Colleen holds a Masters Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Adams State University and is certified by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC). She is licensed in Colorado as Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate and is under the direct supervision of Heather Brooke, LPC.

Colleen's professional goal is to develop a positive therapeutic relationship with clients so they can realize their potential for a full life. Utilizing a humanistic, person-centered approach, her intention is to bring compassion, empathy and humor to each interaction; tailoring her skills to meet the needs of each client. She has experience working with clients with depression and anxiety, survivors of domestic violence, students at transitional points in their lives, family conflict, and considers herself an ally to the LGBTQ community. Her approach to treating anxiety is typically to help identify sources of stress, and develop awareness, coping skills, and encouraging healthy and balanced behavioral patterns. Studies show focusing on positive behavioral changes is useful.

Colleen likes to incorporate Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), and Dialectical Behavioral (DBT) techniques into her sessions as well as Somatic (body) awareness. Education around psychology is important to her and she follows developments in psychology and biology with her clients as you together seek to answer age-old questions about our complex human nature: why do humans behave the way they do?

Colleen believes everybody has “stuff” and counseling CAN help.
